We’re proud to announce that Co-operative Travel saw a 16% increase in sales in December compared to the same period last year. Already strong sales were given a last minute boost by a high demand for traditional package holidays in luxury destinations including Cape Verde, Mexico and the Caribbean
Our customers were beating the winter blues by booking their Summer 2017 holidays early, and we here at Co-operative Travel outperformed sales in the rest of the market by 7%. Our top selling destinations for the coming Summer included the Canary Islands and the Caribbean, where bookings were up by 48% and 44% respectively, mainland Spain and Portugal.
Alistair Rowland, our Group General Manager said, “December capped off a fantastic year for us! It’s encouraging to see strong demand for luxury locations, suggesting customers remain confident despite some of the uncertainty caused by Brexit and other world events.”
Our 56 Co-operative Travel branches also bucked trends with sales up year-on-year by 14% compared to an on average 1% increase for other high street travel agents*.
Alistair continues, “Post-Christmas enquiries are up and we’re also seeing a faster rate of growth in the family market versus couples, pointing to the importance of the family holiday for UK consumers.”
“We’ve already made a strong start to 2017, which we are confident will be another record trading year for us.”
As part of Midcounties Co-operative, we here at Co-operative Travel boast more than 500 colleagues and are one of the largest independent travel retailers in the UK. Our branches operate throughout the Midcounties trading areas and the East Midlands. We have twice been a recipient of the Best High Street Travel Agency Award, and have also been awarded the Customer Satisfaction Award by the Institute of Customer Service.
We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of our loyal customers for choosing to book with us, and we look forward to booking many more holidays for you in the future.
