Mark Cox bought his £2 ticket whilst booking his getaway to Portugal, and was selected as the September winner In the Travel Lottery’s monthly draw.
The Travel Lottery is run by The Travel Foundation, a charity founded in 2003 to highlight the importance of sustainable tourism. Customers are able to buy a ticket when booking a holiday in a participating travel agent, giving them a chance to scoop the monthly prize.
Mark follows in the footsteps of June’s jackpot winner Jason Eberle, who bought his winning ticket at Co-operative Travel in Halesowen, and becomes the first winner to originate from our Wolverhampton branch.
The win, clearly, came as a shock to Mark, who said, “I thought it was a joke when I found out I won – I couldn’t believe it! It’s great to win the cheque though, and it’s a useful bit of spending money to enjoy when I get to Portugal.”
Sharon Bradburn, manager of The Midcounties Co-operative Travel in Wolverhampton, said, “As a co-operative, sustainable travel is an important issue to us, and we’re proud to participate in The Travel Lottery which generates valuable funds to support The Travel Foundations great work.”
“We’re so pleased that one of our customers has won the jackpot on this occasion, and we hope the money helps Mark to have a great time in Portugal.”
